Local artist Maria Lopez will be
exhibiting her acrylic paintings on the 2nd floor of the Rawlings
Library in the Hispanic Resource Gallery from August 15th through October.On display will be her
collection of urban landscape scenes of Colorado.Maria earned a
Master's degree in painting from Boston University. She has shown her work
Discover Exoplanets is a traveling exhibit that provides an introduction to the search for life on other planets, and the tools NASA scientists use to search for exoplanets. The “Big Idea” for this exhibition is “NASA is finding habitable worlds in our own stellar neighborhood.”
Tibetan Buddhist monks with the Ngari lnstitute for Buddhist Dialectics, located in far northern lndia, will be creating a Tara sand mandala and performing sacred music. A sand mandala is a diagram of a celestial palace where a Buddhist deity lives, and it is formed through the intricate layering of dyed sand grains over several days. The purpose of creating the mandala is to help humans generate compassion and understand the impermanence of all things. Geshe Tsewang Dorje, Ngari lnstitute's director, will explain the work and the meaning of the mandala.
